Angus and Lilly 6, NEW, The Clysm Wars.

This chapter scene is where it all starts.  It begins the plot of the actual story, and is slightly less about character development.  Though if you look closely, you will find Lilly and Angus actually in the story too.  You might just not see them openly yet.  I hope you enjoy the launch of "The Clysm Wars." That have been known up until now as "Angus and Lilly."

Captain Mecham paced the sterile, steel laden room like a caged animal.  “I don’t like it!  The serum isn’t ready yet sir!”

“Get over it Captain.  We’re testing TRIP, Total Render of Individual Possession on team Charlie Alpha.  We’re taking them on the road.  I have your map tour here.”

General Dickerson slid a map across his desk toward Mecham with several flags marked.  “There are very specific orders you have to test on them.  It will ensure that the serum does override natural conscience and morals.  They have the highest scores on the psyche tests for resisting, if they can’t resist, it will be a win.  We will have our super team, without the worry of their human instincts.”

“Sir, I can’t help but think you’re opening a can of worms.  If this serum is stolen, or it comes out that we’ve tested it on our own; the world will come down on us and there will be nothing of the U.S. but a nuclear fallout cloud.”

“It’s up to you to make it happen and ensure we aren’t found out then isn’t it Captain?”  Dickerson stacked his papers, closed the file, and slapped it down on the desk.

“These men signed the contract, they signed the special forces waivers, we have all the permission we need to ensure their compliance.”

Captain Mecham nodded, “Understood sir.”  He collected the files, and quietly left the office.  He was so engrossed in his reading, he bumped into a soldier heading into General Dickerson’s office.  He excused himself without looking up and continued down the hall while the soldier continued on without pausing or knocking.  Voices raised in anger drifted down the hall after him before the double doors leading into the labs closed behind him.  Looked like the general was batting a thousand today he thought.

“Nurse, call up team Charlie Alpha and have them report at 0600 tomorrow morning please.  We have our marching orders on TRIP.”

“But…”

“Problems Lieutenant Mendoza?”

“Sir! The drug isn’t ready for human testing yet!”

Captain Mecham’s face slid into a haggard mask for a moment before becoming emotionless, “We have orders from higher up on the food chain than we can fight.  It isn’t my preference either.  All I can take comfort in is that these men indeed signed waivers for testing of all sorts of things to be on this team.  They did it with their eyes wide open.”

“Hardly open Sir.  They weren’t given information to make an informed choice.  This drug takes away consent.”

“That has to be our secret Lieutenant.  If our ability to control minds and actions came out, it would cause a world war the likes of which we would never recover.”

Lieutenant Mendoza bowed her head in shame.  She began making the calls.  Captain Mecham locked the files in his cabinet, then picked up the phone to intercom General Dickerson to let him know operation TRIP would be in full swing by 0800.  There was no answer.  Shrugging, the Captain hung up and began prepping the lab for the team’s arrival.  It was going to be a long night.

Down the hall, one set of large, tan combat boots stepped over General Dickerson’s sightless, dead body.  The boots made no sound, left no marks, and no one saw a lone soldier leave.
