This one requires a bit of explanation. Sorry for the mix up, but it had to be reposted in order for the blog to hit the posting partners correctly. Thanks for your patience! The prompt was to use as many of the senses as possible. My thoughts are that this scene with the last scene will be coupled in some manner to reflect the coinciding times. The challenge will be to deliver opposing POV's without becoming too confusing. I believe it adds depth to his mind set and explains more how they came to be in their current predicament.

Lilly's fingers slid across his skin oh so gently; a kind of velvet pain. The slightly fur roughened surface of his body was bruised and bloodied, a testament to the terrible abuse he'd survived. Angus slipped in and out of conscious but always, Lilly’s soft fingers stroked him. She kept him from the brink of permanent darkness; let him know he wasn't alone in the dark. It came a twinge of pain to go with the pleasure of her comfort.
The sheets lay beneath him, cool and smooth. She’d managed to change them again without waking him. Day and night had no meaning in his disorientation, but Angus was obedient to her comings and goings. He slept when she was out of the room. He roused to take broth from the warmed spoon when the harsh metallic edge pressed against his cracked and bleeding lips. He suckled at the slippery ice chips she held for him. Angus greedily licked at her fingers for each drop of moisture.
At times his skin felt so hot and tight he wanted to cry. Lilly would soothe him with cool clothes and keep them freshened in a pail that she kept near the bed. The rough terry cloth scratched cool trails across his tortured skin and left temporary relief in its wake. When she finished, she stroked his hair and hummed aimlessly until he slept again.
Angus didn’t know how long he’d been there in that bed. One day his eyes opened; full of grit and gunk from laying at death's door. He took stock, slowly moving each body part starting from the toes up. All parts checked in. Everything seemed to work, if a bit rusty. Relief at all the bits and pieces present and working flooded in drowning the rage and grief for a moment.
He gingerly tried to sit up against the headboard and had just managed to get himself onto his elbows when the door opened and Lilly swept in. He took in his first look at her when he wasn’t delirious with eyes swollen shut; glorious! Quickly Angus averted his eyes, embarrassed, he mumbled a thanks. She must have seen the effects of all the abuse, nursed those most private of hurts. Something inside him cried for her to see him as a man, not a victim; but she'd seen, she'd never be able to forget now.
